If you have concerns about American Fork Canyon and the fact that Snowbird has been afforded 3 decades of polluting with lead, arsenic, and zinc into the public water supply, if you are concerned that they will soon be excavating and working in and around mine tailings and mill sites which could compound the amounts of dust and toxins in the air and water, please voice your concerns to the EPA. It was the EPA that helped Mineral Basin and the Forest Service do a good job cleaning up Mineral Basin. Snowbird did not remove their tailings, instead left a pile, covered it, and the hazard still remains. Its our belief that full removal and remediation is in the best interest of the canyon and the population centers below, given the fact that Snowbird plans a drastic use change and will bring tens of thousands of paying guests into this fragile environment.
